Prof Allen Caldwell (Max-Planck-Institut für Physik), will deliver a lecture in the John Adams Institute For Accelerator Science series at 16:15 on Thursday 9th February 2012 at Fisher Room, Denys Wilkinson Building, Keble Road, Oxford.
The construction of ever larger and costlier accelerator facilities cannot continue forever, and new technologies will be needed to push the energy frontier. Plasma wakefield acceleration is a rapidly developing field and is a promising candidate technology for future high energy colliders. We focus on the recently proposed idea of proton-driven plasma wakefield acceleration and describe the current status and plans for this approach.
