VERS 50301 204 2006 MODE SEQ NAME Beam expander with no pupil shift NOTE 0 The device expands a monochromatic beam from 5 mm to 8 mm diameter. It has a field of view of one degree radius. It illustrates Lagrange's invariant. If the input beam is angled by one degree, the NOTE 0 expanded output beam is angled by 5/8 degree. The output aberrations are tested by means of ZEMAX's Paraxial surface type (see the ZEMAX manual). This particular lens has the characteristic that it d NOTE 0 oes not shift the pupil. It is derived and enlarged from a idea developed for a low-order Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor. It that application it would be deployable, to allow a switch in the beam s NOTE 0 ize and hence in the sampling and field of view in the sensor. In that case it would be made polychromatic and would work in reverse, so that the pupils, located on the lenslet array, were on the out NOTE 0 put side.
