PhD Success!

Congratulations to Emily Howling on successfully defending her PhD viva!
Emily's thesis was titled "Design Aspects of a Low Impedance Beam Position Monitor for the FCC-ee".
"The FCC-ee requires around ten thousand beam positon monitors with stringent requirements for high resolution and low beam impedance. These requirements must be met across several sets of beam parameters.
This project working on beam position monitors for FCC-ee gave me the opportunity to combine CST simulation with benchmarking measurements at three different accelerators. I was also immersed in the FCC-ee collaboration and learned a lot from working with colleagues across the different fields of expertise to advance the FCC-ee project cohesively.
My work culminated in a nominal BPM design that is expected to fulfil the requirements for FCC-ee, as well as a more novel elongated button design with improved impedance properties."
